Liberty teachers, staff, students, and parents are committed to working cooperatively to create a safe, secure, and nurturing environment that promotes the highest level of academic achievement and character development while empowering our community and meeting the diverse needs of all learners.

At Liberty, we maintain high expectations for all students and adults on our campus. Students are expected to act responsibly and always do their best academically, behaviorally, and socially. We encourage our students to seek additional support whenever they have a problem, need assistance, or have a concern. We also believe that the best way to be aware of your children’s progress is to communicate with your child’s teachers.

Liberty Elementary - Teacher of the Year

Kathy Crase

Ms. Crase graduated from Northeastern State University in December 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, eager to begin her journey of nurturing young minds—something she has always dreamed of doing. That dream became a reality when she was hired by Sallisaw Public Schools in the summer of 2003, and she has been living her purpose ever since. For the past 22 years, Pre-K has been her home, and she can honestly say she has never once dreaded going to work. Her classroom is truly a second home to her.

Ms. Crase strives to create an environment where students feel love, grace, compassion, forgiveness, and, most importantly, a passion for learning. Her mission is to foster a family-like atmosphere where they all support one another in becoming the best versions of themselves every day. Building meaningful relationships with each student and their family allows her to meet every child where they are, understanding their home lives, challenges, and experiences. She hopes to remain connected with them through both their joys and struggles long after they leave her classroom.

As a teacher, Ms. Crase does more than lead—she observes and engages. Facilitating learning for young children requires creating a supportive, interactive space where curiosity is nurtured. She sees herself as a guide, offering children the tools and opportunities they need to explore and navigate the world around them.

Outside of school, Ms. Crase loves spending time with her large family and enjoying the great outdoors. She has 4 grown children and 9 grandchildren, who are the absolute joy of her life. Most of her evenings and weekends are spent cheering them on at their extracurricular activities.
